* PostPath upgrades its Linux-based Exchange replacement package
PostPath recently upgraded its Microsoft Exchange replacement product with several features to lure enterprises off of a Windows-based e-mail platform.
PostPath is a Linux-based software package designed to almost completely replicate a Microsoft Exchange server environment, with support for Microsoft Outlook clients, as well as similar calendar and groupware features. The company says its software uses special protocol conversion technology that allows Windows servers to see the Linux-based PostPath server as a Microsoft node.
PostPath Server 2.2 now supports the ability to connect with Microsoft Outlook clients without any modifications or tweaks to the desktop software, the company says. Also added to the new product are several tools that make it easier to integrate PostPath into a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
The company says its new product is aimed at both users looking to completely migrate from Windows to Linux servers on the back end, or enterprises that need to mix Linux clients into a Windows Exchange-based e-mail network.
PostPath 2.2 can be inserted into multiple Active Directory domain schemes, such as single- or multi-domain setups, according to the company. Users can also now integrate PostPath with BlackBerry Enterprise Servers, allowing BlackBerry users to receive the same mobile e-mail services as on Windows Exchange.
The upgrade also includes installation tools to for migrating Exchange Servers to PostPath.
PostPath 2.2 is available now and costs $60 per user.
