Symantec this week is expected to announce IM Manager 8.0, the first upgrade of the instant-messaging security product it gained in acquiring IM Logic earlier this year. IM Manager, which runs on Microsoft Windows Server 2000 or 2003, is a gateway used to block or allow all forms of IMs. Added functionality gives users greater control in enabling or blocking specific IM capabilities, such as the voice feature in Google Talk or application sharing in Microsoft Office Communicator.
