Postini to offer Web filtering service
Managed messaging security service provider Postini Monday announced plans to integrate ScanSafe’s hosted Web filtering service into its own offerings. Slated for availability late in the third quarter, the service will be branded Postini Web Content Manager and will be integrated with the company’s existing security offerings for e-mail and instant-messaging communications, says Andrew Lochart, Postini’s senior director of marketing. Firefox update fixes 12 security bugs
Mozilla has released updates to its Firefox browser and Thunderbird e-mail client that fix a number of critical security flaws in the open source products. The Firefox update, which was in the process of being automatically delivered to Firefox 1.5 users Friday, addresses 12 security flaws. The release also includes some fixes designed to make the browser more stable, Mozilla said on its Web site. Click here for more.
Laptop theft compromises Hotels.com customer data
Hotels.com is warning nearly a quarter of a million customers that they may have had their credit card numbers stolen, following the theft of an unencrypted laptop belonging to the travel Web site’s auditor, Ernst & Young GIobal. Click here for more.
