What is it like to be an open source advocate and yet work for Microsoft? This is the life of Bill Hilf, an open source industry veteran whom Microsoft hired 20 months ago to help it figure out its role in the open source movement. As director for Microsoft’s platform technology strategy organization, Hilf is at LinuxWorld in San Francisco this week to give a technical session about managing Linux in a mixed environment.
