Microsoft moves to add VoIP to Office
Microsoft announced that it is acquiring a Swiss software company, media-streams.com, which specializes in VoIP applications. The technology Microsoft gains as a result of the deal will help it add VoIP to the Office Live platform, which already supports real-time communications via channels such as instant messaging.

Barracuda targets anti-spam appliance at big enterprises
Barracuda this week released a version of its Spam Firewall e-mail security appliance for very large enterprises. The Spam Firewall 900 is a souped-up version of the company’s gateway appliance that features expanded storage capacity – 300G bytes – for quarantined e-mail and four CPUs to provide greater processing power.

Study: Offshore outsourcing creates jobs
The economic benefits from offshore outsourcing will create more than 337,000 jobs by 2010, on top of jobs lost through outsourcing, according to an ITAA study, by economic analyst Global Insight. ITAA called offshore outsourcing a “net positive for American workers and the U.S. economy.”
