* Orbital Data, Network Appliance establish partnership
endif; ?>Orbital Data plans to bring the technology worlds of network optimization and storage together when it partners with Network Appliance to provide companies with an application delivery infrastructure that can lower the total cost of operations for storage-over-IP applications.
Orbital Data, which sells its Orbital 5500 appliance to speed WAN traffic, says its partnership with NetApp will enable customers of both vendors to increase bandwidth performance, reduce the cost of operations on their storage and expand the distance at which data replication and disaster recovery can take place. These performance improvements will be accomplished by integrating the Orbital 5500 into the storage products offered by Network Appliance.
“Orbital Data recognizes that its growth and success are dependent on a strategically constructed ecosystem of partners whose products and services complement and enhance those of Orbital Data,” said Richard Pierce, CEO and chairman of Orbital Data, in a statement.
Using a set of algorithms, Orbital Data analyzes how a network is operating at any given time and helps network managers maximize performance accordingly. Partnering with Network Appliance will allow disaster recovery operations to take place at higher speeds, over longer distances and with greater predictability, Orbital Data says.
NetApp says it offers products that support disaster recovery plans, ensuring data security, high availability, and rapid data recovery in case of a disruption.
