* Emic, Aurema, LSI Logic, Chelsio to unveil products at LinuxWorld
The product news from the LinuxWorld show this week in Boston is trending towards cluster technology, as several vendors are expected to reveal new wares that harness the power of multiple Linux-based processors.
In addition to clustering systems, typically used in high-performance computing applications, enterprise-focused workload management tools are also being introduced at the show, allowing Linux servers to balance computing tasks among Linux machines.
Announcements at the show this week include:
* A new version of Emic’s Application Clustering (EAC) product. This software package is designed to distribute processing loads among applications on Linux servers, such as MySQL databases, and provide failover for applications.
* Aurema, a maker of workload management software for Windows and Unix servers, is bringing its product to Linux. The software will run with Novell’s SuSE Enterprise Linux Server 9, allowing multiple SuSE application servers to distribute tasks evenly.
* For clustering disks on a Linux system, LSI Logic is releasing its eight-port MegaRAID SATA II storage adapter. The card connects multiple hard drives into a virtual RAID array, with the ability to keep data available in case of a disk failure. The card works with both Red Hat and Novell’s SuSE Linux distributions.
* Chelsio, a maker of 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interface cards, will have a network adapter for Linux servers, targeted at high performance computing cluster environments. The vendor will be displaying the NIC with Scali, a maker of Linux clustering software for Linux.
