* Redline Networks unveils support that’s specific to SAP
endif; ?>Redline Networks joined a growing number of vendors providing advanced support and improved performance for popular enterprise applications such as SAP.
Redline last week introduced application-specific support for SAP NetWeaver. Using Redline’s OverDrive technology in the company’s E|X enterprise application processors, Redline says customers can improve performance and security for SAP Web applications. Redline had already customized OverDrive to support Siebel, PeopleSoft and some Microsoft applications.
The latest application-specific OverDrive software enhances performance with custom rules specifically written to optimize key capabilities, such as Redline’s 3G Caching and security, for SAP NetWeaver, the company says. Redline also provides customers with best practices implementation guidelines and usage scenarios for deploying SAP NetWeaver with Redline E|X.
Network managers could use OverDrive to define rules to perform such actions as modifying a component of Web page content, selectively adding Secure Sockets Layer encryption, changing URLs and modifying requests.
Through rules, OverDrive can centrally redirect requests for outdated URLs to their newer equivalents. The new control environment can also assist in root-cause analysis of intermittent problems that are difficult to track within a data center, using rules to check and log every request and its accompanying error and alert network managers about problems.
The technology can add application-layer firewall enhancements that complement other edge firewalls, and the rules can block buffer-overflow-related hacking attempts, deny malicious browsers, prevent unapproved URL requests and protect against well-known attacks such as Nimda or Code Red, the company adds.
Redline OverDrive in support of SAP is available immediately worldwide at no additional charge.
