Javits Convention Center in New York. The exams are being offered for $25 per exam, 75% less than the usual exam price. The LPI 101 exam tests areas of Linux systems administration, such as setting up a mail or Web server, adding and removing user accounts, and troubleshooting. The 201 exam tests more complex skills such as Linux kernel programming and configuration. LPI’s exams test users by asking questions on how to solve real-world scenarios in Linux administration, rather than just making exam takers memorize syntaxes and commands. LPI’s exams are vendor-neutral, and the certification program is shaped by surveys it sends out to IT professionals who use Linux. Linux vendors and experts in the open source community also contribute to the programs.Among the corporate contributors to LPI exams are IBM, Novell, TurboLinux, SuSE and HP. Beyond the Cebit-America show, LPI exams are offered through Pearson VUE and Prometric testing centers.
