A new analyst report released this week sheds a tad more light on Apple’s long-rumored iWatch, a device expected to be announced sometime this fall. According to Brian Blair of Rosenblatt Securities, Apple’s newfangled wearable device won’t house a form factor similar to the Galaxy Fit from Samsung. On the contrary, Blair’s sources in the supply chain indicate that the device will feature a round face like any other watch you’d find out on the market.
Blair says the iWatch will go into production around July/August. There will be “models” of the iWatch. (Probably one for women, one for men.)
It sound like Apple is growing confident in the success of the iWatch. Blair says Apple’s orders for the iWatch are higher than previously expected. He forecasts Apple makes 18-21 million iWatches for the second half of the year, up from his previous estimate of 15-20 million.
Some previous analyst reports have also hinted at the iWatch coming in various models. Most notably, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo articulated that the iWatch will likely come in 1.3 and 1.5 inch form factors.
Durability wise, it’s believed that the iWatch will feature a sapphire face (making it nearly impervious to scratching) along with a liquid metal construction. Kuo also relayed that battery life on the device will last for at least one day.
Some other rumored iWatch features include an NFC chip, wireless charging, and a slew of biometric sensors.
