For those who live or work in the San Francisco Bay Area or Sacramento and are interested in learning more about Windows high availability and disaster recovery, I will be co-presenting on High Availability and Disaster Recovery of a Windows Networking Environment along with Rand Morimoto. We will have three sessions throughout the month of December. Feel free to swing by for this free seminar.
Session Abstract:
As networking environments become more and more mission critical, organizations are focusing on maximizing the reliability and developing disaster recovery processes for their networking environment This free seminar, led by Convergent Computing Author/Experts Rand Morimoto and Ross Mistry, will address best practices at keeping Windows, Exchange, and SQL operational as close to 24×7 as possible as well as providing strategies on how to setup these technologies so you can failover from your primary data center to remote Disaster Recovery site.
Some of the topics covered include:
- Technologies built in to Windows 2003 R2 that address system reliability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery (including DFS-R file replication, Windows clustering, network load balancing, and current disk to disk to tape strategies)
- How to keep Exchange operational (including Exchange 2003 dial tone recovery, Exchange 2007 cluster continuous replication, and Exchange 2007 SP1 standby continuous replication)
- Utilization of SQL high ability technologies and log shipping replication for zero downtime
- Best practices at backing up and recovering from a failure of a Windows, Exchange, or SQL server
- How virtualization technologies are being leveraged for server and remote site recovery strategies
- Use of disk to disk to tape backup strategies
