Going “green” is all the rage in business these days, both for economic and ecological reasons.
Lost amid all the hype, however, is this dirty little secret: A lot of people are being forced to give up their workplace creature comforts – and are none too happy about having to make the sacrifice. Out are the personal printers, coffee pots, mini-fridges and more: all gone in the name of green.
My Network World colleague Carolyn Duffy Marsan gives a hearing to such grumblings in this story, which is part of a larger package that looks at what works when you want to go green and features a question-and-answer interview with the EPA’s CIO and a profile of the role of nuclear in green initiatives at Orbitz. There’s also a handy-dandy list of 10 tips for reducing energy consumption in your shop.
I don’t have a personal coffee pot and the Green Police can have my printer, but they’ll have to pry the mini-fridge from my cold, dead hands.
