Xerox researchers envision a time when images will be much more than pictures. They will include sound, video and descriptive data, according to Siddhartha Dalal, who heads up the company’s center for core research in digital imaging, document management and services. Dalal, who spoke today at the International Congress of Imaging Science in Rochester, N.Y., also said researchers are working on technologies that will enable images to adjust to the device on which they are being viewed, whether it be a large-screen TV or a handheld phone.
