Not making this up: MIT admissions dean quits after admitting she faked her resume

MIT admissions dean Marilee Jones resigned Thursday after acknowledging she falsely listed having degrees from three colleges on her resume. (http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2007/admissions-hastings.html) She faked her resume in order to get a job at MIT 28 years ago, even though she really didn’t even need a college degree for that particular job. She listed degrees from Union College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the Albany Medical College, but in fact had no degree from any of those schools, according to Associated Press. Jones said in a statement that she “didn’t have the courage” to fix her resume over the past two-plus decades of service at MIT (http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2007/admissions-jones.html). Ironically, Jones was known for stressing to parents and prospective MIT students that they shouldn’t be overly concerned about amassing huge credentials on resumes. Jones released a book last year that she co-authored: “Less Stress, More Success: A New Approach to Guiding Your Teen Through College Admissions and Beyond.” Said Dean for Undergraduate Education Daniel Hastings: “This is a sad and unfortunate event,” said Hastings. “But the integrity of the Institute is our highest priority, and we cannot tolerate this kind of behavior.”
