The Internet Streaming Media Alliance, a group of vendors dedicated to creating a standards-based framework for encoding, delivering and managing streaming content, announced today it’s creating an external advisory board to help guide it through such murky issues as Digital Rights Management. Technological standards for streaming are relatively easy to develop compared to how to create a standard for managing how a particular piece of content can be used by an authorized user. DRM is huge issue for media companies and something enterprises should also be aware of, especially given Microsoft’s new foray into the market.
