Big Blue is putting its network and rich media management skills to work on IP-based video surveillance service practice. The move makes a lot of sense. IP video is IP video no matter what the source. Surveillance is just another application for IBM to support with its database, Web Services and management tools. Sure their will be some nuances to learn, but with 100 researchers dedicated to the topic and a piece of the $5 billion digital video surveillance pie up for grabs, I’m sure IBM will do okay for itself.
