EE Time UK reports that the H.264 video compression specification should get big play at the upcoming International Broadcasting Convention opens in Amsterdam. While some licensing issues are still in the air, it looks like satellite broadcasters such as DirecTV may use the technology in its next release. This could bode well for the industry in general. The big players in videoconferencing have already pledge support. My guess is the more people that use it should help drive some of the costs (equipment et al) down.
