Digital Webcast this week published a review of the Marantz PMD670 portable digital audio recorder that is targeted at on-the-go journalists and podcasters:
I have been impressed with this unit’s ability to record broadcast quality audio for radio, high quality sound for film and video and for podcasters looking to get a leg up on their competition, the PMD670 will provide clear, clean, consistent sound. I give the Marantz PMD670 solid state recorder a strong buy recommendation.
At around $700 for the device, it may not be a practical solution for those just getting started in podcasting. Personally, I use an iRiver iFP-890 for my mobile recording. It may not be NPR quality, but at $100 it is a much cheaper alternative.
