A new best friend

I made a new best friend at the DEMOFall 05 show: The FireStore FS-4 DV hard drive. For our Day 1 and Day 2 coverage, we shot everthing with a Canon GL-1 camera. Usually, we record to tape, take things back to the hotel/office, capture the video off the tape, then edit. With the FS-4, we captured directly to the hard drive through a FireWire connection (and used tape for backup, which wasn’t needed.) This saves a TON of time in the editing process. Just plugged the hard drive into my laptop and started editing directly from it. Even seemed faster than when I pull clips off my hard drive. At $750, it’s worth every penny. For you iRiver fans, I am still best friends with the iFP-890 for my field audio capturing needs.
