If you’re still using TotalRecorder to record phone interviews, a good way to play back the interviews while transcribing the audio file is with a program called Winamp. It’s just another MP3 jukebox program, but it has a feature that lets you control the fast-forward, rewind and pause controls through keyboard shortcuts while you are working in Word. I’ve found it’s much easier to transcribe this way instead of hitting Alt-Tab back and forth between your audio player and Word.
