App Store figures suggest iOS 8 adoption rate of 46%

Initial reports have suggested that iOS 8 adoption has been a slow and steady affair, but the latest figures from Apple paint a more optimistic picture. While some app marketing firms are reporting iOS 8 adoption figures in the 25% to 30% range, Apple’s own data shows that 46% of devices that visited the App Store as of September 21 were already running iOS 8. Looking ahead, it’ll be interesting to see how iOS 8 adoption compares to iOS 7 once the initial upgrade rush starts to fade. Recall that it took iOS 7 about three months to reach 74% adoption and 10 months to reach 90% adoption. All in all, it’s rather impressive that 95% of iOS users are running an OS that, at the most, is about a year old.
