CompTIA’s Tech Jobs Report reveals that hiring added 90,000 net new tech occupation jobs across all industries.
The tech unemployment rate fell slightly in June as companies listed 455,341 job listings for tech positions in June, according to data and analysis from CompTIA’s recently released Tech Jobs Report.
Tech unemployment in June was 2.8%, compared to 3.4% in May, CompTIA says. Tech occupation employment increased by an estimated net new 90,000 workers for the month, according to CompTIA’s analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data. Of the positions listed in June, 211,924 or 47% were added last month, with the most in-demand roles including software developers, systems engineers, tech support, cybersecurity professionals, and network architects.
The report also shows that 50% of employers aren’t requiring four-year degrees in job listings. Employers are also targeting a wide range of experience levels, from entry-level to senior professionals.
“Tech employment showed surprising strength for the month given recent expectations,” said Tim Herbert, chief research officer at CompTIA, in a statement. “It’s worth pointing out there is more to tech hiring than AI. The data continues to confirm employer hiring activity across many tech talent domains.”
CompTIA’s AI Hiring Intent Index shows that jobs listings for AI were up by 153% compared to the same period in 2024, specifically for positions that require “some degree of AI fluency skills,” according to CompTIA. While dedicated AI roles are still limited to specific sectors, more positions across functions now expect AI skills.
