Sessions planned for the "next generation of Windows Phone"
A short post at the MIX10 Website announces that Microsoft is planning a batch of developer sessions for the “next generation of Windows Phone,” an apparent reference to what’s more widely known as Windows Mobile 7.
MIX is Microsoft’s three-day conference for Web designers and developers. This year, it runs March 15-17 in Las Vegas. Here’s the link to the online information about the sessions, complete with the new Windows Phone placeholder entry.
Officially, Windows Mobile is now called Windows Phone. Microsoft is widely expected to unveil the 7.0 release at Mobile World Congress, Feb. 15-18, in Barcelona, Spain. There’s a lot riding on it: the most recent tweaking of the 6.5 release is still focused on making the interface more touch-friendly, and easier to navigate and work with. But tweaking isn’t enough: Microsoft needs to radically redefine the user experience to recapture and hold the interest of phone makers, phone users, and software developers.
MIX10 would be the first chance for Windows developers to get into the details of the new version after the Barcelona event.
