Names SCE, Accenture execs to utility group
Cisco named two officials to help oversee its Smart Grid initiative. Paul De Martini jumps to Cisco from Southern California Edison (SCE) to be the chief technology officer the company’s Smart Grid team, while Jeff Taft joined the Cisco from Accenture to be Global Smart Grid Architect.
At SCE, De Martini was vice president of Advanced Technology, leading the utility’s smart grid strategy, policy and technology development. In his new role, he will lead the development of Cisco’s Smart Grid end-to-end IP architecture, and technology and deployment roadmaps. He will also participate in smart grid global standards development.
Taft is a 25 year veteran in the energy and technology space, specifically in the areas of strategy development, product and project engineering, process and methodology development, and management of business operations. At Cisco, he will be responsible for large scale architecture implementation, core capabilities related to grid state and observability, and data transport.
Cisco views smart grids as a $20 billion opportunity.
