Company retreats from exclusive practice of last year
Maybe our whining last year paid off? Most of you probably could care less, but press and analysts – ALL press and analysts – are invited back to Cisco Live! this year after being discouraged from physically attending last year unless you worked locally in San Francisco, where the event was held.
Instead, non-San Francisco media were strongly encouraged to “attend” and cover the event virtually, where we could hear and interact somewhat with the speakers and presenters Cisco availed to us through our portals and broadband connections – and only those Cisco made available. This after years of being invited to attend along with everyone else, free to interact with any and all in attendance.
The reason for this, Cisco said, was not due to the dour economy but because it chose to conduct the event virtually for most of us using its vast array of new and existing collaboration technologies. Maybe it didn’t work? Cisco did not respond to an inquiry on the about face by the time we posted this.
But we received our press invitation and registration link to Cisco Live! this week and we are honored, humbled and grateful for the opportunity to return – and for Cisco leveling the playing field as far as equal access for all media. We’ve registered and we intend on attending – physically – and we look forward to seeing you there!
