Pays $620,000 in Q1 to press feds on patents, etc.
Cisco doubled the amount it spent in last year’s first quarter to lobby the federal government on patents, immigration reform and other issues, according to this dispatch from the Associated Press. Cisco spent $620,000 in Q1 this year vs. $310,000 in the first quarter 2009 and $280,000 in the fourth quarter of last year.
Citing a recent disclosure form from the company, the AP said Cisco lobbied the government for patent reform, immigration reform, and cybersecurity and international tax legislation. Cisco and other global companies face taxation when importing profits from international operations into the U.S.
The filing was made April 20 with the Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, the AP reports.
