Details elusive, but PR firm has been hired and working on it since the spring
Cisco is planning a consumer product launch, according to PR Week, which notes that they’ve hired a PR firm to handle it. OutCast Communications, which has worked with Cisco previously, has been tapped by the company to facilitate coverage of it, according to PR Week.
The PR industry bible got a taste of its own medicine though when it pressed for details on the upcoming launch. OutCast, which began working on the campaign in the spring, gave PR Week the Heisman as did Cisco.
We didn’t fare much better. Cisco would not comment for us either. We do note that the Cisco Live! conference is coming up the last week of June so something might pop there. Then again, maybe not. Our guess is not – Cisco Live! doesn’t seem to be the venue for a consumer launch; it’s still very router/switch oriented, especially when combined with the router/switch-intensive Networkers user conference.
But feel free to chime in if you have any ideas on what and when this consumer launch might be…
