Acadia board busy forming management team, hiring from across the industry
The board of Acadia, the joint venture company formed by Cisco and EMC to train channel partners to sell private cloud infrastruture, is busily forming a managment team and filling out the employee ranks to commence operations in early Q1. The board consists of Howard Elias, President and Chief Operating Officer, EMC Information Infrastructure and Cloud Services; Gary Moore, Cisco’s senior vice president of Advanced Services; Rob Lloyd, Cisco’s executive vice president of Worldwide Operations; and Mitch Breen, EMC senior vice president, Global Channel Strategy and Sales.
Acadia’s role in the Virtual Computing Environment coalition unveiled by Cisco, EMC and VMware is to wrap training and consultation services around “VBlocks” — pre-integrated sets of compute, networking, storage and virtualization systems — that can then be sold by channel partners to end users.
Elias and Moore have pretty much been running things, according to to Elias. Sources say Elias is actually chairing the board but he would not confirm that.
He did say though that Acadia views its opportunity as “substantial and unique” — accelerating adoption of private cloud infrastructures by making it fast and easy for channel partners to sell and implement.
Elias also sees the challenge in meeting demand stoked by the Acadia proposition.
“We’re offering this intellectual property that Acadia is creating to our partner ecosystem so that they can then deliver and help accelerate the adoption of those VBlock packages by our customers,” he said.
