Starting Off the Year with the Best of Windows Server 2008 R2
Happy New Year everyone, I wanted to welcome you into the new year as well as to a month long dedication to posting on Windows Server 2008 R2. My 1550-page book, Windows 2008 R2 Unleashed ships in a few days and will be available through all the normal bookstore sources (Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc). The book (and this month of blogs) is based on over 2-yrs of working with Windows 2008 R2 server and the Windows 7 client.
My company, Convergent Computing (HQ’d in the San Francisco Bay Area) was one of the first adopters of Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 about 3 weeks before Windows 2008 shipped well over 2-yrs ago. We’ve been very active in Microsoft’s development of Windows and Active Directory over the past couple decades that Microsoft has us try out their early release products, provide them feedback, and then deploy the products in alpha and beta releases to really shake out the bugs and issues.
Although Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 only shipped a couple months ago, I’ll be sharing over 2-yrs of experiences and will provide tips, tricks, and best practices around our experiences with:
