More CCIE candidates are motivated to achieve Cisco’s highest level certification to help open doors in their career path than seeing an immediate increase in pay, according to Cisco Subnet readers who participated in our recent survey. Blogger CCIE Journey posed the question in his latest post for the CCIE Buzz blog, adding that his goal “has always been to learn as much as I can.” He writes: “If I were to obtain my CCIE tomorrow, bags of money would not show up on my desk at work, unfortunately. That wasn’t my goal though from the beginning.”
Of the 180 readers (so far) who took part in the poll, 32% said they are pursuing the CCIE to help open doors, 11% said it was for the increase in pay, while 3% said it was for a pat on the back. A full 43% said it was “all of the above.”
