It is almost upon us – a New Year! It is a new year fraught with much turmoil throughout the world and within the IT field. There are certain to be many changes this year in the IT arena – with the economy in disarray and with many businesses either going under or cutting costs dramatically, there are certain to be ramifications for us. All we can do is better position ourselves to react to a rapidly changing IT world. I am going to make this a multi-part post on some thoughts for the New Year and my own plans to weather the economics maelstrom that is upon us.
So, what can I do (or you do) to help position ourselves to weather this economic downturn professionally? Get a new certification – right? Well, that is basis of this blog – Microsoft Certifications. And, yes, that is one step you can take – give yourself a broader skill base to draw upon professionally. While being the master at one skill is impressive – when that skill is not needed – neither are you. You can’t just rely on your current skill base to survive the next year or two or five. That at least is my mantra – you can’t rest on your laurels – you must grow and learn from your past achievements to advance further in your career.
So what am I going to do to grow professionally? How about write more entertaining blogs…. J I’ll do that regardless. But I am going to finally get my CISSP certification. Tried once two years ago and came close, but just not enough. That is my goal. I want to finally earn my CISSP in the first part of the year. I’ll let you know how I fared in a much later blog.
