Further evidence that crime against Cisco doesn’t pay – even for those innocent souls unlucky enough to get caught up in Cisco fraud cases. Star Tribune has an interview with Steve Chicoine, former president of Interlink Communications who in December was exonerated in a case to defraud Cisco to the tune of $1 million. His ordeal had begun in 2002 when his office was raided by federal agents and ended last month when a jury found him not guilty.
According to the Star Tribune, some employees in Interlink – a former Cisco reseller – were involved in scams to send Cisco phony invoices to replace purportedly faulty parts. Chicoine, and some others from the company were arrested in 2007 and the indicted for various fraud charges. In a defense trial in December, Chicoine was found not guilty.
The Star reports that Chicoine’s 6-year ordeal cost him jobs, money and respect.
