Haha… I actually wasn’t asking this question. Instead, I just needed a catchy title for a Japanese cultural sharing posting. Basically, over the Christmas and New Years break I went to a city south of Kobe called Himeji. In and near this city are two very cool cultural icons/places.
The first place we visited is called Himeji-jo (Castle). If you are familiar with Japanese manga, then you have most likely seen depictions of this castle or others like it. Himeji-jo is a Japanese National Cultural Treasure.
The second place we went is a temple on the outskirts of Himeji called Engyo-ji. Besides being very beautiful, and very quite please to reflect. It is also famous for being the place where some of The Last Samurai was filmed. For some reason, I can’t image the monks being very amused. :>)
Anyhow, to share these places with you, I have posted some pictures. Because I’m not very convinced that Flickr doesn’t a bumpy road ahead. I’ve switched over to Picasa. Hopefully, you like the slideshow:
