Improbable Research, the funny people who bring us the annual Ig Nobels for offbeat scientific discoveries, have a new schtick to unveil this Friday the 13th at the Advancing Science, Serving Society (AAAS) annual meeting in Chicago.
Improbable Research will hold a press briefing at which it will introduce the 1000th person named Steve to sign up for the National Center for Science Education’s Project Steve, which urges scientists by that name to sign up in support of teaching evolution. The project is “a tongue-in-cheek parody of a long-standing creationist tradition of amassing lists of ‘scientists who doubt evolution’ or ‘scientists who dissent from Darwinism.'”
Wonder if Steve Jobs would qualify?
The timing of the event roughly syncs up with the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birthday.
