Riverbed Executives and Customers Drive Industry Discussions on IT Infrastructure Performance; Riverbed Cascade Exclusive Performance Monitoring Tool for the Conference — Live in the Interop NOC

Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, today announced that it will participate as an exhibitor at Interop Las Vegas 2009 taking place May 17 – 21 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. In addition, Riverbed® industry experts will lead discussions surrounding IT infrastructure performance, including the evolution of application delivery, next-generation data centers and the competitive landscape of WAN optimization solutions. Attendees can visit Riverbed at booth #1359, and can learn more about the conference at https://www.interop.com/.

Interop is the leading business technology event series. Through in-depth educational programs, workshops, real-world demonstrations and live technology implementations, Interop provides the forum for the most powerful innovations and solutions the industry has to offer. At the Riverbed booth, attendees will hear from customers who will discuss their real-world experiences with Riverbed WAN optimization solutions, and connect directly with Riverbed Technology Alliance partners, including Crescendo Networks, Infoblox, Netscout, OPNET, and more.

As part of this year’s show, Interop will demonstrate technology at work and give attendees the opportunity to speak with operators who are hands-on with the products in the Interop NOC. Riverbed will deploy its Riverbed Cascade Profiler in a live environment as the exclusive performance monitoring tool for the conference. Riverbed Cascade appliances analyze network traffic to provide valuable information about the interactions of and dependencies between users, applications and systems.

Conference keynotes and sessions will focus on the recent surge of IT innovation and how it can help enterprises cut costs, get closer to customers and increase revenue. Riverbed executives will lead discussions at several conference sessions:

CIO BootCamp

Who:   Alan Saldich, vice president of product marketing and alliances, Riverbed

When:  Monday, May 18, 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Where: Room: South Seas F

Why:   Mr. Saldich will co-present with a Riverbed customer to discuss the

major network integration and consolidation of 64 sites that

followed a corporate merger, and how the customer doubled available

bandwidth while simultaneously reducing data network operating

expenses by more than 20 percent. The presentation will also provide

details on how Riverbed WAN optimization enabled the company to

slash replication times and reduce transfer times of 12 Gigabyte

files from five hours to 30 minutes, providing a significant

       competitive advantage.

Keynote Panel: Reinventing the Data Center

Who:   Dr. Mark Stuart Day, chief scientist, Riverbed

When:  Wednesday, May 20, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Where: Ballroom: Mandalay Bay H

Why:   New requirements, new architectures and new constraints are creating

a new order inside the data center. Our panel of experts will debate

the effects of virtualization and high-speed networking as they

describe the shape of things to come and what users need to do to

prepare for the next generation of data center solutions.

Conference Session: A Comparison of WAN Optimization Controllers

Who:   Apurva Dave, senior director of product marketing, Riverbed

When:  Tuesday, May 19, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: Room: Breakers E

Why:   The vast majority of workers currently reside in branch offices and

access applications over relatively low-speed and high-latency WANs.

This use of the WAN causes many applications to perform badly. To

mitigate the impact of the WAN on application performance, many

vendors have developed a solution referred to as a WAN Optimization

Controller (WOC). In this PowerPoint-free session, leading WOC

vendors will be asked questions to identify the similarities and

       differences between their products.

Conference Session: The Future of Application Delivery

Who:   Alan Saldich, vice president of product marketing and alliances, Riverbed

When:  Thursday, May 21, 11:30 am – 12:30 p.m.

Where: Room: Breakers E

Why:   A couple of years ago, it was common to equate application delivery

to network and application optimization. However, ensuring

successful application delivery requires that IT organizations do

more than just implement optimization techniques. It also involves

planning, management and control that extends to a wide range of IT

disciplines, not just networks. As a result, most of the application

delivery vendors have begun to develop expertise in other areas,

including security, storage and management. In this session, leading

vendors will outline their divergent views on the future of

       application delivery.
