Microsoft hit with $200M fine for patent infringement over XML

On Wednesday, a federal court in Texas fined Microsoft $200 million in a patent infringement case. The court sided with, i4i, a Toronto-based software firm that claimed that XML used in Word 2003 and Word 2007 XML violated its patents, reports ChannelWeb. Microsoft plans to challenge the ruling.
