The booty consists of free training from New Horizons and free SQL Server Reporting Services books.
Posted by Microsoft Subnet editor Julie Bort: The names have been selected and the winners contacted. We are pleased to announce the 16 lucky people who won last month’s giveaway. The grand prize, a free Microsoft training course of his choosing from New Horizons, was won by John Stephenson (pictured), director of IT for the non-profit Odyssey House, Inc., a behavioral health center with 10 sites in the New York Metro area.
John correctly answered the following trivia question: In the blog Microsoft Startups to Watch written by Alpa Agarwal, what is the name of the company featured in her first company profile? Answer: Linxter
John is considering using his free prize to take a course on Windows Server 2008 or SharePoint from New Horizons. John says that he remains a fan of Microsoft products … in fact, he has witnessed Microsoft’s products drastically improve during his 20-years he has spent in IT. It now takes people far less time to do far more work. But his bigger concern is Microsoft licensing and keeping costs down. As a non-profit, his costs for individual products isn’t too bad, but he uses quite a few Microsoft products, and licensing fees adds up. He’s certainly not alone in his quest for less expensive enterprise-ready software.
Congratulations also go out the following 15 winners of the book-of-the-month giveaway. Each of these folks won a copy of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Unleashed courtesy of Pearson Education. Each correctly answered the following trivia question: What is the name of Microsoft’s full-featured report-authoring tool that targets developers and provides extensive design capabilities? Answer: Report Designer.
