This new administration tool gives SharePoint better permissions management
The SharePoint team released an updated version of its SharePoint Administration Tool. The tool lets admins that oversee multiple SharePoint installations perform bulk management tasks across sites. It is compatible with Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services version 3.0 running on x86 boxes.
The Admin Tool allows admins to be e-mailed when users perform certain tasks, like alter the URL of a Web application. It also features a new-and-improved User Profile Replication Engine tool. A new Permissions Reporting Tool is also kinda nifty, according to the SharePoint Team Blog. It makes it easier to detect problems with permissions, to check what permissions have been granted to a user or a group and to compare permissions between users or groups.
The tool is available for free from the Microsoft Download Center.
While SharePoint Administration Tool version 2.0 for x86 was released today, the similarly named SharePoint Administration Tool v.2.0 for x64 was released a year ago.
