02/29/08 – Day 8

Found a position on CareerBuilder and applied for it.

Got an email from Brad Reese inviting me to send him a copy of my resume for posting on his site.  If you have a Cisco Certification, this is another way to get the word out there that you are available and the best part is that it is FREE !  Brad, thanks for doing this for me as well as the others who are Cisco certified.

Got an email from Bruce Nowjack about looking at Craigslist for find a job.  I had looked at Craigslist several months ago.  Got the impression from looking at it that is was a disorganized hodge podge of postings.  Was my impression ever wrong.  In just a few minutes worth of looking, I found five different jobs that got my interest.  Some were temporary in nature, others were more permanent.

Posting to the five positions on Craigslist got a quicker response than I would have expected.  While I was writing today’s blog post, I got contacted by a recruiter for one of the positions.  It just happened to be for a major bank in the area that is in the top five bank groups in this part of the country.

I talked with Kendall Waldock of Search-press, a job board management and database search firm.  He is going to email me a questionaire to fill out and send back.  He told me that the customer is considering this a  first-round interview.  Based on what the customer decides from reviewing my responses, I might be contacted for a second interview.

Will add Craigslist to my daily check of Job boards.

It is one more tool to have in your arsenal of job hunting tools.
