Cisco has another customer that will be piloting its draft 802.11n gear – the Swedish city of Lund. According to a story in Computerworld, the metro wireless LAN will be installed in Sweden’s 12th largest municipality, which has 100,000 inhabitants. Cisco says the deployment will be first that its 802.11n access points will be installed in a European metro network. Lund is simultaneously building a metro network, covering over 8,000 apartments, reports Computerworld. The wireless network will use spare Gigabit Ethernet ports to keep costs down and transmission speeds up. Subscribers to fixed broadband will get free wireless access.
In the United States, Cisco is deploying its 802.11n gear around Duke University.
