Sniffer Global integration with Cisco Mobility Services Engine to provide location-based data on network, application performance.
NetScout integrates its Sniffer Global product with Cisco Mobility Services Engine to help enterprise network managers spot performance problems on wired and wireless networks.
NetScout at Interop Las Vegas 2009 this week is set to announce it will integrate its technology with Cisco’s to enable its Sniffer Global network analyzer product to more quickly identify and resolve network, application and service performance problems across wired and wireless nets.
Sniffer Global network analyzer, which NetScout picked up with its Network General acquisition, now integrates with Cisco 3300 Series and new 3310 Series Mobility Services Engine (MSE) to enable enterprise network managers to provide “location-based knowledge to enable significantly faster identification and resolution of network and service performance issues over wired and wireless networks,” NetScout executives say.
“We have equipped our enterprise-class network protocol analyzer with technology to provide physical-location knowledge of wireless devices, users, RFID tags and other types of devices connected to the network to enable more rapid identification of network and application performance problems,” says Steven Shalita, vice president of marketing at NetScout.
The integration, which is the first result of NetScout’s membership in the new Cisco Developer Network, will enable network managers to use one product to troubleshoot problems across wired and wireless networks. Sniffer Global can provide protocol analysis and policy-based control of network data on wired networks and now also wireless infrastructure, Shalita explains. The protocol analysis can provide segment-level analysis and monitoring for 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi traffic with deep packet and expert analysis.
The added integration features are available at no cost to existing customers under NetScout MasterCare maintenance contract and network managers looking to get started with Sniffer Global can expect to pay about $30,000 for a new license. The Sniffer Global integration with Cisco MSE is scheduled to be generally available in July.
