* What is the TAC Start Button?
Here’s an interesting widget to try if you’re actively hunting for a new job. TAC Worldwide – a staffing company that serves the hardware and software, and telecommunications industries, among others – last month launched the TAC Start Button for job seekers and hiring managers.
Once you’ve download the Start Button (available from TAC’s Web site) to your desktop you get access to TAC’s database of job openings. The button also allows you to search TAC’s database and to forward the button to a friend. The button also has a scrolling list of job functions that when clicked, takes you to TAC’s jobs database.
There is also a ‘talk’ facility, which currently directs you to a list of TAC’s regional offices. However, the company expects that soon, users will be able to communicate via instant messaging with TAC recruiters and contractors who have worked at companies that you’re interested in.
TAC says that the widget has been downloaded 500 times so far. It says the button is not meant to replace job boards such as Monster, but provides more functionality than your browser’s favorites list. And once TAC has turned on the instant messaging facility, this tool could be a useful addition to the tools you currently use for job hunting.
