San Diego fires hit Qualcomm’s presence at CTIA, 10/24/07: Qualcomm is a big player in the mobile industry and the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2007 is a key event for it to attend, but that means little during a week when fire is threatening the San Diego area where the company is based.
Selecting the ‘right’ client devices , 10/29/07: An interesting discussion at last week’s CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment 2007 conference in San Francisco focused on how enterprises should go about selecting end-user devices from the ever-increasing myriad of choices.
Competitors downplay iPhone’s enterprise appeal, 10/24/07: Much of the talk at the CTIA wireless industry convention this week was about a company without a booth here — Apple — though the competition seems to have more grudging respect for the company than concern that its iPhone will erode their enterprise business.
Microsoft adds mobile, single sign-on support to Live ID, 10/23/07: Microsoft Tuesday expanded the capabilities of its Windows Live ID service by adding support for single sign-on for its Windows Live services and making it possible for users to sign up for an ID from a mobile device.

Security guru notes how IT eases committing fraud, 10/25/07: Fraud expert, author and ex-con artist Frank Abagnale doesn’t use online banking, thinks ID cards are a bad idea, and reckons the U.K. needs data breach notification laws.
Malware on the rise as criminals target vulnerable firms, 10/23/07: Malicious code that installs files such as Trojans, password stealers, keyboard loggers and other malware on users’ systems registered a fivefold increase in the first half of 2007, according to research released by Microsoft at the RSA Security conference in London.

Microsoft opens up virtualization API, 10/25/07: Microsoft has announced that a key API of its hypervisor technology will be open sourced.
* DIGITAL ID WORLD NEWS
RSA gets into the one-time password game, 10/31/07: I continue to believe that the ubiquitous mobile phone will become the authentication token of choice in the near future. Heck, I’m not even sure why we still say “phone”; it’s a tiny,portable entertainment/camera/communications device which offers music, texting, instant messaging, photo and video display and generation, Web browsing, games, GPS services and, oh yeah, telephony. At the recent Digital ID World show, New Zealand-based Fronde showed me its one-time password (OTP) generator for mobile devices, and it was neat. But now the granddaddy of OTP is in the game.
