Backspin: Ameritrade leaks and more Wi-Fi theft
First of all, there is something that I meant to discuss a few weeks ago that surprisingly has not gotten much coverage. Art Medlar, a fellow inhabitant of a mail list I subscribe to explained that he is a client of TD Ameritrade, and being a cautious kind of guy he used unique primary and alternate e-mail aliases for his account.

With relevancy to the Backspin column on WiFi crime and punishment and the ongoing discussion here in Gibbsblog Network World’s online editing god, Adam Gaffin, just told me that one of his neighbors who uses WiFi (and who has security enabled) has set his SSID to be visible as “F*** Off Losers”.
Pre-release Vista says Good-bye
If you are using a pre-release version of Vista, today is your last day to do something about it. Beginning June 1 your copy of Vista will begin shutting down and rebooting after two hours of use, without warning. This behavior will continue until August 28 when it stops completely.
