* Newest blogger at Cisco Subnet
Network World recently brought on a new blogger for its Cisco Subnet community of interest, and he’s already making quite an impact.

His name is Brad Reese, and he brings to Network World a perspective we had been lacking – that of someone deeply involved with the career side of Cisco networking. His bio describes him as “research manager at BradReese.Com, advancing the careers of 600,000-plus certified individuals in the growing Cisco Career Certification Program.”
He likes to embed things in the blog – which is good, because it’s often good information. For example, there is this entry on the demand for CCIE-certified voice experts, which shows a chart of CCIEs around the world and their specializations. He then notes that a CCIE Voice Expert – extremely rare, as there are only 411 in the world – can fetch a nice premium in salary, earning up to $200,000 a year to start.
On a related note, he relays a call from a government recruiter looking for a Cisco engineer to support U.S. troops in Iraq. But he also says that many engineers really want to go to Dubai.
He also discusses non-career-specific topics, such as a recent finding that “evil code” – depicted in his embedded graphic by a devil’s head – could take over Cisco Linksys routers. And he compared the philanthropic effort of John Chambers with that of Bill Gates.
In short, Reese’s perspective is a great addition to the growing community at Cisco Subnet.
