* Plain old telephone service as the answer to your multimedia woes
In a business such as ours, we often become so enamored of flashy (bad pun intended) new technology that we forget about the more traditional methods that still have a long life. For instance, we spend a lot of time worrying about whether multimedia content is appropriate, when there are perfectly good technologies staring us in the face.
Kubernan recently decided to try test this theory with the release of a new report on Mobile WiMAX. Rather than simply offering the options of streaming media and podcasts to augment the set of slides summarizing the results, a third option – calling in for an on-demand replay was also offered.
The idea is simplicity itself. Everybody has a phone and the rates for phone calls are approaching zero cents per minute. So if your PC is not equipped appropriately, or if your work environment is not conducive to listening to a podcast or other multimedia presentation, make a phone call.
It’s simple, and it also solves a major problem. We’ve found over the years that way too many folk like to download a deck of slides and try to guess what they mean. In doing so, these people are short-changing themselves by not hearing what the presenters have to say about the slides.

This methodology should work fine for you. But, especially if you’re calling from a cell phone, there’s an outside chance that your call will be blocked. That’s another story for next time.
