Verizon V-Cast needs some work
Verizon Wireless was nice (or smart) enough to hand out a bunch of mobile phones loaded with its V Cast Mobile TV service to journalists and analysts at the recent CTIA Wireless 2007 show in Orlando. I tried out the Samsung SCH-u620, if only for a few days (Verizon offered the TV service only during the week of the show).

Toshiba launches 200GB portable drive
Toshiba’s storage device division today launched a 200GB 2.5-inch USB 2.0 portable external hard drive. The 200GB version costs $229.99 and is available at the Toshiba Web Store and other retailers. Other versions include a 160GB drive ($179.99), a 120GB version ($149.99) and a 100GB model ($129.99).
Toshiba puts draft 802.11n on notebook
Over the weekend, Toshiba announced a new notebook with “draft 802.11n” wireless technology, which may or may not eventually conform with the 802.11n standard once it’s finalized, and may or may not be interoperable with other 802.11n equipment (we doubt it).
Old videotape uncovers Simon Cowell on game show
This is the video equivalent of finding a valuable antique in an attic.
U.K. resident Barbara Humphreys uncovered video footage of American Idol’s Simon Cowell appearing on the U.K. version of the “Sale of the Century” game show in the early ’90s. It happens that Barbara was also appearing as a contestant on the show, and her aunt taped the show for her as a keepsake. T-Mobile launches $99 Sidekick
The latest wireless e-mail device from T-Mobile is the Sidekick iD, announced today with a cost of $99 (plus service and two-year agreement). Available on Wednesday, April 25, the new device features removable and replaceable exterior panels for “spur-of-the-moment personalization,” T-Mobile says.
