Gearhead: A Goodsyncing feeling
We’ve looked at a number of data-synchronization tools and Goodsync has to be one of the easiest to use and one of the most reliable. We like it so much we’ve set it up on our Windows 2003 server (running in a virtual machine under VMware, very cool), which maps drives to shares on each of our workstations as a backup strategy.

Backspin: Microsoft OneCare could be the undoing
Microsoft is once again constricting user choice by sheer marketing force, and when the ecology is reduced innovation will suffer. Add to that the potential danger of digital pandemics from viruses and hackers increasing by orders of magnitude and things don’t look good.

The Google Browser Sync Extension
Google keeps doing cool things and their latest release Google Browser Sync Extension for Firefox is just that, downright cool.
What GBSE, which currently only works with Firefox 1.5+, does is “continuously synchronizes your browser settings – including bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords – across your computers. It also allows you to restore open tabs and windows across different machines and browser sessions.”
