In the Final Cut Pro video editing software, the documentation says you can make a video in real time from multiple clips while watching the individual clips in the viewer and the currently chosen clip in the canvas, but we can’t figure out how to assign angle numbers to prerecorded clips to get started. Do we have to work from tape?
To assign angle numbers to prerecorded clips to set up a MultiClip playback and editing session, you first import clips into the Final Cut browser via the Import command in the File menu. Highlight a single imported clip and use the CMD-9 (Apple key and 9) keyboard shortcut to bring up the properties panel. Click in the empty space to the right of the Angle label and type the angle identifier you want to assign.
After assigning an angle number to each clip, highlight the group of clips you want to work with in the browser, and use the Make MultiClip Sequence item in the Modify menu. Double-click on the MultiClip Sequence just created and you’ll see the collection of clips tiled in the viewer window; the canvas window will show the clip currently selected in the viewer. When you play the timeline, you can switch and cut by clicking clips in the viewer. With sufficient system resources, all the views will play simultaneously and you can cut prerecorded clips as if it were a live show.
