* NetPro begins its directory experts roadshow in September
In this week’s Windows Networking newsletter I passed on some results of a survey of attendees at this year’s Directory Experts Conference (DEC) put on by NetPro and Microsoft last March. I also expressed mild surprise at how long it had taken NetPro CTO Gil Kirkpatrick and VP of Corporate Communications Christine McDermott to put the results together. Evidently they had other things on their minds. No, nothing titillating or salacious. Get your minds up out of the gutter!
A month ago, you see, McDermott was still VP of marketing. But she’s evidently had so much fun dealing with the press and the analysts that she’s decided to do that job full time and let someone else (Jim Dooley) take over the tough job of trying to find out what customers want, then trying to convince them that NetPro has what they need! Getting the new guy prepped probably took a considerable amount of her time.
Kirkpatrick can’t point to a title/job change for the delay in putting the survey results together, though – he’s been CTO for as long as I can remember, and he’s been at NetPro even longer. No, he was probably busy planning his next adventure. You see, he’s always wanted to bring the benefits of the education and information available at DEC closer to where people live. Some of that’s been accomplished by moving the spring show out of the Phoenix area (this year was in Las Vegas, last year in Vancouver) but that still isn’t enough. So he’s taking the show on the road. Not the whole thing, of course, but a small sampling.
“Directory and Identity: On the Road to Organizational Agility” will hit the road beginning Sept. 18 in Detroit, rambling on to a couple of dozen other cities over the next few months. And – wonder of wonders! – they aren’t all in the United States! Europe and even South America will be included in the tour: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Munich, New York, Paris, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, St. Louis, Tallahassee, Washington, DC, and Zurich are currently planned and more may be added.
The free events will include a light breakfast and lunch and be hosted in Microsoft’s offices. Topics covered during the one-day seminars include:
